Hurst Lodge School is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Sports teacher to join our small team from September 2020. This is a part time position over three days.
Job Description 1. To contribute to curriculum planning and development 2. To participate in the development of new teaching/learning strategies 3. To contribute to the development and organisation of Sports resources 4. To keep accurate records of student assessment and progression as part of our student tracking process 5. To attend meetings of the Department or those related to particular courses 6. To lead fixtures 7. To undertake continued professional development, both subject and non-subject specific
Person Specification 1. Qualified teacher status 2. Experience of teaching up to Physical Education up to GCSE level 3. A thorough grasp of current initiatives in Sports teaching 4. A commitment to teamwork within the Sports department 5. A commitment to the ethos and values of the school 6. A sensitivity to the social/cultural context in which the school operates 7. Tact, a sense of humour and a willingness to work hard 8. The sensitivity and empathy to cater for a range of learning needs 9. A flexible and adaptable team-player 10. To further investigate the breadth of qualifications that can be delivered by the department
Beyond the Classroom All teachers at Hurst Lodge are expected to contribute fully to the extra-curricular and pastoral life of the school. Teachers are expected to liaise with parents, undertake supervision duties and promote the behaviour and House systems.
