Description:

Hurst Lodge School is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced English teacher to join our small team from September 2020. This is a full time position.

Job Description
1. To contribute to curriculum planning and development
2. To participate in the development of new teaching/learning strategies
3. To contribute to the development and organisation of English resources
4. To keep accurate records of student assessment and progression as part of our student tracking process
5. To attend meetings of the Department or those related to particular courses
6. To lead one extra-curricular activity related to the English Department
7. To undertake continued professional development, both subject and non-subject specific.

Person Specification
1. Qualified teacher status
2. Experience of teaching up to English GCSE, English Language A-Level desirable
3. A thorough grasp of current initiatives in English teaching
4. A commitment to teamwork within the English department
5. A commitment to the ethos and values of the school
6. A sensitivity to the social/cultural context in which the school operates
7. Tact, a sense of humour and a willingness to work hard
8. The sensitivity and empathy to cater for a range of learning needs
9. A flexible and adaptable team-player
10. To further investigate the breadth of qualifications that can be delivered by the department

Beyond the Classroom
All teachers at Hurst Lodge are expected to contribute fully to the extra-curricular and pastoral life of the school. Teachers are expected to liaise with parents, undertake supervision duties and promote the behaviour and House systems.
