Head of Physical Education, Oxford
Location: Oxford OX2 7EN

Summer Fields is one of the premier boys’ prep and pre-prep schools in the country, situated in 70 acres of superb grounds in North Oxford. The school has an excellent academic reputation and is extremely well resourced.
We seek an outstanding full-time Head of Physical Education (PE). PE includes swimming; it is distinct from games in the prep school (which is the management responsibility of the Director of Sport). The successful candidate will lead the provision of all sport (including games and fixtures) in the Pre-prep under the leadership of the Head of Pre-prep; be primarily timetabled to teach PE and swimming across the school (i.e. from Reception through to year 8); and play a full role in the pastoral and boarding life of the school.
The successful candidate will lead the department in matters of teaching and learning in the subjects of PE and swimming, developing and implementing schemes of work which inspire passion for the subjects and enable all pupils to make progress. In addition to facilitating a happy, stimulating environment in PE and swimming lessons, and requiring high expectations in terms of both effort and attainment, applicants will also play a full and active part in the daily activities and duties schedules which are an important characteristic of a flourishing boarding community.
The successful candidate will have;
• A passion for teaching PE and swimming at this age.• A strong understanding of PE, swimming and pedagogy.• The ability to play a full role as part of a wider team. • A desire to participate fully in the pastoral and extra-curricular spheres which are characteristic of a boys-only school.• A willingness to contribute to boarding life.• The role is suitable for a teacher with experience of teaching PE and swimming seeking professional development.
Please apply by submitting the following:
