Godalming College in Surrey is one of the best sixth form colleges in the country with a reputation for high quality, innovative teaching and learning along with outstanding results. The college provides contemporary and stimulating surroundings in which to work and study.

We require a technician to provide a high standard of technical science support to our Chemistry department in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations and to enable the provision of quality education. This will include the maintenance and security of laboratories and ensuring the cleanliness and proper functioning of all equipment. The technician will also assist with the preparation of resources including experiments and computer applications for teaching and demonstration purposes.

Applicants should have a chemistry qualification at A Level or above and/or experience of working in a similar laboratory environment. They must also be able to demonstrate good practice in the handling of laboratory apparatus and chemicals when assisting students. Good organisational and interpersonal skills will be required as will a flexible and adaptable approach to assist the smooth running of the department.

The full time salary is £19,434 – £21,803 per year. The actual salary based on hours worked will be £16,639 – £18,667 per year depending on experience and qualifications.

Ideally, we would like the Technician in post from 27 August or before 16 September but we can be flexible.
