Griffin House School is a highly successful independent primary school for children from the ages of 3-11 years. We are looking to appoint a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated Catering Manager to work in our busy after school club.
Main role and responsibilities: In summary your main role as the Cook is to provide a nutritious, cooked meal for the children.
Main duties: • Prepare a hot meal for the required number of children staying to the after school club. • Be aware of and cater for all the Dietary requirements of the children, including those with diagnosed allergies. • Serve the meal, and help to supervise the children whilst eating their meal. • Clean and tidy away after the meal and ensure the kitchen area is left clean and tidy.
On occasion, it will be necessary for you to work together with the after school Supervisor to support children’s participation in day to day learning activities.
This will include: • Communicate sensitively with parents/ carers and children at all times. • Supervise small groups of children during play. • Ensure the environment is kept tidy and organised. • Ensure that the department and the outdoor area are safe at all times and the Health and Safety Policy is implemented. • Ensure that all accidents and incidents are recorded and be aware of the First Aid procedure used in the school. • Follow policy on discipline which enables staff to be consistent in their handling of children, promoting ‘good’ behaviour rather than punishing ‘bad’. • Be aware there is a named person who has the responsibility for issues concerning behaviour. • Be aware of fire procedures and fire extinguishers. • Be aware of, attend training on and implement Safeguarding procedures. • Be aware of named person who has responsibility for issues concerning Safeguarding Children. • Work as part of a team, be flexible and prepared to use own initiative. • Play a vital role in the life of the school including INSET and other recommended training.
Essential qualities required: flexibility and adaptability, organisational and communication skills - to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues - self-motivation, professional knowledge and expertise, discretion, sense of humour. Experience of working in a catering environment is desirable.
Training and support will be an ongoing aspect of the role.
