Close to London yet in an outstandingly beautiful rural setting, Woldingham is a happy and successful Catholic boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18. Building on a proud heritage that stretches back 175 years, we’re now driving an exciting future that’s underpinned by fresh ideas, an innovative spirit and state-of-the-art facilities – all alive with the creative energy of over 500 young imaginations. Our goal is to develop confident and compassionate young women who are curious, ambitious and ready to take on the challenges of today’s world.
As Library Manager, you’ll be key to making that happen as you co-ordinate and develop all aspects of our library management systems. It’s your opportunity to make a positive impact on every girl’s learning experience as you identify and acquire resources in both traditional and electronic formats, deliver presentations and workshops, manage the library budget and support the development of research skills across the school.
You will start this journey by developing the current provision, taking responsibility for a wide remit including direct involvement with subject departments and curriculum delivery, as well as a high profile involvement in large scale library led events. With sound library experience (not necessarily gained in a school), you will enjoy engaging and inspiring minds as you foster a lifelong love of reading.
An excellent communicator who can enthuse others with your vision, you’ve the ability to build strong working relationships with students and staff alike. First-rate presentation, organisational and IT skills (including the use of library cataloguing software) are also essential, along with a real passion for books, learning and independent research. As important as all of that, you’ll bring fresh and imaginative ideas to promote the library and put this vital resource firmly at the heart of school life.
This is an exciting time to join Woldingham School as there is a proposed development for a new Learning Resource Centre which will offer a state of the art, interactive learning environment for our pupils. Our ambition is to offer a well-equipped resource provision and embed a culture amongst pupils that the library is a centre of excellence integral to fulfilling their academic and personal goals.
