Teacher of English
Location: Snelsmore Common RG14 3BQ
Working Pattern: Required for September 2017
Closing date: 3 May 2017
Are you looking for a new challenge?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to teach English at Mary Hare School for the Deaf. We require a highly motivated and well-qualified Teacher of English to join our successful department and teach across the age range from 11-19. We are looking for someone with the energy, enthusiasm, commitment and creativity to help us continue to provide excellent education to deaf young people. The small group sizes at Mary Hare give our teachers the opportunity to make a real difference to the progress, achievement and life chances of our students. Within the English Faculty, and the school as a whole, our students attain exceptional outcomes. We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational teacher to join our very strong and supportive team.
The post carries with it one SEN point on appointment (£2064) and a second SEN point on successful completion of the mandatory qualification for teaching hearing impaired young people.
Mary Hare is a residential secondary school for hearing-impaired children. The school follows an auditory/oral educational philosophy so prior knowledge and proficiency in sign language is not required. The school has a team of fully qualified care staff to look after the children in residence. Benefits of working at Mary Hare include small teaching groups, pupils who value help and support and a close and supportive teaching staff.
Applications are welcomed from both qualified Teachers of the Deaf, and those with experience teaching hearing children, who would be interested in this unique opportunity. Teachers without a formal qualification to teach deaf children would be required to qualify through in-service training within three years of appointment. The opportunity to continue this study to Master’s Degree level is available. Funding up to Post Graduate Diploma level will be borne fully by the school.
Application forms and additional information is available on our website: www.maryhare.org.uk
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school prior to applying. Please contact Jo Walsh, Head of English on firstname.lastname@example.org for further information and completed application forms should be returned to email@example.com
Closing date: 3 May 2017
Interviews to be held during the week commencing 8 May 2017
Mary Hare is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure along with other relevant employment checks.
