Mary Hare School requires a highly motivated, enthusiastic and well qualified Teacher of Mathematics to join a thriving department which achieves significantly higher than national average value added at GCSE and nearly 100% A* to E A Level grades.
This challenging and rewarding post offers the opportunity to teach across the ability and age range from 11-18 with well-motivated pupils within excellent surroundings and facilities. The maths department has its own suite of rooms all fitted out with interactive digital screens with plenty of additional practical resources to make lessons enjoyable. In addition the school offers new teachers accommodation at very low cost during the first year of taking up a teaching appointment.
Salary is set within national guidelines plus SEN 1 point. The successful candidate would receive a further SEN point on the completion of their Teacher of the Deaf qualification.
Mary Hare is a residential secondary school for hearing-impaired children. The school follows an auditory/oral educational philosophy and so a knowledge and proficiency in sign language is not required. The school has a team of fully qualified care staff to look after the children in residence. Applications are welcomed from experienced and newly qualified teachers who would be interested in this unique opportunity to teach deaf children. Teachers without a formal qualification to teach deaf children would be required to qualify through in-service training within three years of appointment. The opportunity to study for a Masters Degree is also available. Funding for these courses will be borne fully by the school.
