New Bridge is a 60 place (full time equivalent) Local Authority Nursery School serving a mixed catchment area. We are situated close to Reading and the borders of Oxfordshire. It is an established area with a supportive community.
The school occupies a turn-of-the-century primary school building, leased to Reading Borough Council by the Diocese of Oxford as a Nursery. Many improvements and adaptations have been gradually made to update the spacious classrooms and hall. In this way, changes have been made to meet the needs of younger children and to facilitate staff working as a team.
• To ensure outstanding, sustainable provision with a stimulating, engaging and challenging learning environment, a place where all children and families feel valued and nurtured.
• To use and further develop staff expertise in working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs and work with Governors and staff from Caversham Nursery School sharing skills and practice.
• To put the Rights of the Child at the heart of school planning, policies, practice and ethos ensuring rights and respects are modelled in all relationships.
We are a centre for 3 to 5 year old children with a high-functioning Autism Spectrum Condition, who live in the Reading area. Our Snowflake Centre provides a positive and holistic environment where children can grow and develop and gain an interest in the world around them. We are based within New Bridge Nursery School which was deemed to be outstanding in 2014. We welcome visits to see what we do. So do get in touch and one of our team can show you around.
Our aim is to integrate the children into the mainstream Nursery and then on to mainstream School. As children become settled into Snowflakes, we begin to mix with the mainstream Nursery. Our Snowflake Centre is here to support children AND their families. We work closely together to provide the best learning environment for the children. We have a Family Support Worker who works with the children in Snowflakes as well as visiting children and their families at home.
We offer either five morning or five afternoon places, together with one extra session each week, which will allow your child to experience our lunch club.
